www.arabworldbooks.com - "Food for thought"
Very informative website in English and Arabic - culture club and bookshop with articles, discussions and extensive directory of authors. The website includes a brief biography of every author as well as a selection of the most important publications and translations.

www.aljadid.com - "A review and record of Arab culture and arts"
It is certainly worth looking at the online version of this American culture magazine. Book reviews, interviews with writers and musicians, essays on literature and film in the Arab world provide a wide-ranging overview of those working at the present time in Arab culture and the arts.

www.qantara.de - "Dialog mit der islamischen Welt" - "Dialogue with the Islamic World"
Highly recommendable website in German, English and Arabic. It offers extensive reports on politics, culture and society. From the headscarf debate to inter-religious dialogue or German-Arabic literary exchange - all the current issues are given an airing here.
The website is a partnership between the Bundeszentrale fьr politische Bildung (National Office for Political Education), broadcaster Deutsche Welle, Goethe-Institut and the Institute for Foreign Relations.

www.al-bab.com - "An open door to the Arab world"
English language website with detailed portraits of countries and information on the widest range of subjects - from art and literature to economy/oil. The website also includes a very useful list of links.

http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2004/678/frankfurt_files.htm
The online version of the English language "Al Ahram Weekly" announced a series for the Guest of Honour appearance, introducing important figures from the Arab literary scene.
The first edition of these "Frankfurt Files" looked at the work of Abdel Rahman Munif who died in January. Unfortunately, the series has so far not been continued.

www.litrix.de
"litrix.de" is still a relatively new website for contemporary German literature which, apart from German and English versions, will also appear each year in the language of the respective Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The literary website aims to draw more attention to German literature in other countries.
For the Arabic version, the "litrix" team has joined forces with experts from the region in order to discuss the selected German titles in terms of their relevance or accessibility for the Arab world.
Litrix is a project run by the Kulturstiftung (National Culture Foundation) and the Goethe-Institut, with backing from the Frankfurt Book Fair.
