Some questions that keep being answered over and over.
I have insurance and it covered the majority of the cost, I worry however that the punch will hurt me later if I have something that requires surgery or medical attention since only a certain amount is allocated to me each year for treatments and once it's exhausted you are pretty much SOL. I think we can all be in agreement that the medical system and insurance system is broken, I'm not saying that the little guy should have to pay for the treatment of others but something must be done, its bringing these kinds of things to light and communicating with each other that will get the wheels turning.
I put this up to enlighten, I thought other people might be curious and as surprised as I am by the amount. Though I am sure my bill is inflated because of the insurance, I still worry mostly for the women who don't have insurance or someplace to turn.
No I will not go into the details of the rape. I haven't talked to friends, family, not even my own mother, the only reason I am even able to do this is because I am completely anonymous and only focusing on one aspect of the entire process of this, the bill. Going into details will do nothing but hurt me right now and I am not going to do that, I'm sorry.
If you do get raped go to the hospital, get the kit, get the vaccines to protect yourself, the one thing I will tell you from my mistakes is if you think they aren't doing a good enough job, say something. I should have had those nurses changed out and asked for someone who knew what they were doing.
If you take nothing else from this thread take the advice about financial services and all the programs available to help financially with situations like this, and find someone to talk to most importantly that you trust.
